Thought you all might be interested in what we are watching.  This is from the Duluth Newspaper.  We received an e-mail from our neighbor at the cabin this a.m. to inform us our place is fine.

Wisconsin wildfire 95 percent contained with gusty winds forecast

UPDATE: The wildfire that swept across 8,700 acres mostly in southern Douglas County is 95 percent contained this morning — but not before it destroyed 47 structures, including 17 homes and cabins

Jillian Waynette Smith

Hi All,
Jillian Waynette Smith was born today at 3:14pm.  She weighed in at 9lbs 4oz and was 21 inches long.  Shantelle and Jillian are doing good and we hope to go home tomorrow.  Rhett is trying his best to understand that she will eventually be coming home with us.  I am coming to terms with now being 5th on the totum pole in our house behind Shantelle, Jillian, Rhett and Chuck.

Family NCAA Pool!!!!!

The time has come once again for the NCAA family pick 'me pool.  I have once again set us up on Yahoo!  You will have to use the same login information that you set up in the past.  Here is the league name and password:

You are allowed to fill out 5 brackets per login.  Each person is only allowed one but please sign you kids up for one and have them pick a bracket as well.  If you have any issues please let me know.  The bracket picking will close on Thursday morning at 10:00am MST.

AFRICA HERE I COME!

I can't ignore it any longer, This Thursday I will be boarding a plane with the rest of my pushy family to go to Tanzania.  Yes, you heard correctly, your sister, siter-in-law, aunt, great aunt, and all around nice person is actually going to Africa.  This is not to say I am going willingly. 

The conspiracy started when Mary was home in December.  She has another break from work and thought it would be a good idea if we all came to see her rather than her coming home.  I was more than willing to send Frank and the kids, but belittling, badgering, and intimidation finally won out and I agreed to accompany them.

So for 9 days and nights, I will be on "Safari" in the Serengeti!  I only ask for your prayers for my safe return!

Commissioner Todd:  I assume you will again set-up the NCAA family Pool, and let everyone know how to get entered.  Since I will not return (pray that I do, and if not hold every one of my family members responsible) until April 1, I hope you will keep those who are not as computer savy as me updated on the family blog.  I would hope in my honor, every one in the family will enter this year!

Summer's on the Way!

It doesn't feel or look like it in MN, especially with the latest snowfalls the past 2 weeks, but spring is just around the corner which of course means starting to plan for summer.

My mom mentioned several of you were talking about making a trip to MN/WI for a cabin vacation. Send us your dates sooner rather than later so we can mark it down on our calendar. A trip to Target Field is also a highly recommended must if you haven't visited yet for a Twins game! As empty nesters, my parents have lots of room for you to crash at their place and I am sure would enjoy the company!

Just so you know, one weekend that my parents will not be available to go to the cabin is the weekend of July 27/28. But they can always join you during the week if that is the only weekend that works for you. The weekend of August 17th is also not available.

Thought I'd better post something here, just in case someone is out there and still reading it in their leisure time.

As summer is wrapping up quickly I thought I would post a few pictures, especially for the non-facebookers out there. I hope everyone is having a great summer & good luck with the start of the school year next week!

Summer storms

Crazy Minnesota weather is back in full swing after a rather calm start to our summer. On Monday night a storm with 80 to 90 mph winds took out several trees around our home. Fortunatly, our yard was untouched. Joe is benefiting from all the down trees though and has been staying busy all week removing them.

       We just got home from seeing our new Grandson. I must say he is as cute as his papa. Everyone is doing well and Lindsey and Mike are as proud as can be. He was born weighing in at 7lbs 12oz. and 21" long. Audrey took a few pictures so here is a couple and I'm sure there will be more to follow. Take Care and we miss you all!     Love Papa Morey!

Beginning of Summer

Summer is off to a great start here in MN! Everyone managed to make it up to the cabin for some portion of Memorial Day weekend to enjoy some boating, fishing, and golfing as we kicked off our 10th summer of having the cabin (time flies!). Although with all the different work schedules we only ended up having one night (Sunday) with everyone together.

An Invitation and a Gustafson Update

Suzanna is getting confirmed on Sunday, May 6! The confirmation service starts at 10:30 A.M. Afterwards, we've reserved the basement of the church, so we've got plenty of room, and you know we'll have plenty of food--you're all invited to join us for lunch! :-) I sent out invitations to the family members who live in town, but wanted everyone else to know you're welcome, too.

Since no one in our family has updated anyone for a while, here's what's been going on, mostly:

Wedding Pre & Post Activities

Hello everyone, my mom has asked me to post this message due to her age and lack of technological skills (shes gonna kill me for that).

On Friday, May 11th, everyone that is not busy with the rehersal is invited up to the Comfort Inn.  The kids can all go swimming while the adults enjoy conversation and cocktails.  For those not staying at the hotel for the weekend, my mom has reserved a couple rooms for everyone to use as needed.  She even mentioned something about the grandma's watching the kids later in the evening so we could head out for a few night caps.

On Sunday, May 13th, everyone is invited over to Pat & Kathy's around 11:00 for coffee, rolls and maybe even a pot of sausage and dumplings (not that Kelli would want that).  Don't feel that you have to make it, especially if you plan on leaving early that morning.

As for now, those are all of the announcements I have.  Other than that for those who are unaware, the Los Angeles Dodgers are 16-6 and the Minnesota twins are 6-15, haha.

Easter and More

Hey all, here are some pictures that i have been meaning to put on here for a few weeks.  The kids are enjoying the nice weather we have had and like all of your kids, cant get enough of the park.  I am busy umping baseball and softball right now, for some reason i must enjoy the abuse.  Trista is coaching junior high track and getting ready to run another half marathon in Fargo in may.  Hope everyone is having a good spring and looking forward to the wedding!!!

Bears!

One of the perks of working in a zoo is being able to watch the animals before the crowds show up. I thought some of you might enjoy the videos of the bears I took this morning before my class.

Patti added:  I just wanted to point out, that the second video is of the Bears from Minot, as you can see, they are enjoying their stay in MN.  Anna says there is still no time frame for their returning to Minot.

Happy Memories

I fondly remember the Morey family get-togethers at Grandma Morey's home and immediately flashed back to them when I saw the card below.  I remember a few of these workouts while sitting around her kitchen table.  Happy memories of good times with great people!
