Fargo Flood 2009

Hello to all. I have finally gotten a chance to sit down and share some pictures with everyone from the wet part of the country. But first I want to let everyone know that Tori and I are fine. On thursday night there was an evacuation that was just a few blocks from our house so we packed up our stuff just in case. By Friday morning Tori's sister and his parents were told to evacuate their homes (they are both in west moorhead)...so we all decided to get together and take over Tori's other sisters house for awhile. His sister Tami and her husband Scott live on the Eastern side of Moorhead and in a little safer area then the rest of us, so we thought it would be a good idea if we were all in one place in case anything really bad were to happen. I guess we should have thought about our sanity as well. There is no better way to get to know your future in-laws then to have 7 adults, 4 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats, a chinchilla and a snake under one roof...with one bathroom. But we're safe and dry for now so I guess its worth it. I love everyone and miss everyone very much. When this all quiets down I will try to get back on to give a wedding planning update (presuming the park we are holding it at makes it through this)

(sorry about the order of the pictures, I'm still new to this)

We were on top of the Moorhead Center Mall Parking Ramp. The railroad tracks in this pic actually run over a street.

A view from inside the sidestreet. It starts to feel like a war zone when you are surrounded by a large wall of dirt. The water is directly on the other side of this wall.
This is from the front door of the sidestreet...makes work real interesting!

Well thats all for now...I have plenty more to show you but I don't want to take over the whole blog. Things are starting to lighten up slightly here but were not out of harms way just yet. Wish us luck and I will keep everyone updated. (Lee and Chantel I hope you are safe as well)
With love and hopeful thoughts

Latest Update

Lucille was moved to the Home (same as Corlyn, she's in a room across from him) on Monday. Joyce says she seems to be doing fine. Corlyn has a phone in his room. If anyone wants it, call or e-mail me. I didn't want to put it on the blog.

Hope everyone survived the storm and that everyone around Bismarck is on high ground.

Love

Got a hankerin' for some fresh pics of Cassie and Nick's little guy? Head on over to Pensive? No, Just Thinking for the latest Davis photos!

Hello everyone, first we would like to thank everyone one for the updates and the pictures. It's always nice to know how everyone is doing and to see some pictures of the new additions. As you can see with the pictures below, Trae is a handful. We would have more action photos but by the time we get to the camera he has already completed his last stunt. He is still infatuated with animals of all kinds, but especially horses and cows. His newest word added to the vocabulary is "baby", but when asked does not like the idea of having another one around the house. Well, he hope the spring season is getting everyone a little more excited, but now we hear that Dickinson is looking at possibly 1-2 FEET of wet snow monday and tuesday. It's getting real old, but at least the end is in sight. We hope everyone is doing well and look forward to seeing some of you soon or this summer.

Todd

Lucile Update

I just got off the phone with Kathy, and thought I'd better give everyone else an update. Joyce called yesterday. Lucile came through the surgery fine, but has since experienced about three mini stokes. They had hoped to take her home last week, but looks like she won't be released until early this week and then to the nursing home. This is the same one that Corlyn is at. Not sure yet how Lucile will take it, but they think once she is there, it will be alright. She probably won't have to stay longer than a couple of weeks, but this will give the staff a chance to monitor her and make sure she is able to be at home. Joyce say's Corlyn is doing fine and Karen will know more, later this week, if they have to do any chemo. Karen opted to start the re-construction process immediately, so she still has a lot ahead of her.

I'll keep you all informed if I hear more. I told Joyce that I could drive over once Lucile is situated.

PS Frank and Rick went to the North Dakota Game. They were very impressed!

Love,

Patti

Update on Lucille

I got a call from Richie this evening and he said Lucille came through the surgery well. She is at the Mitchell Hospital and her room number is 3207. Her phone number is 605-995-5607. This is the number directly to her room so I would wait if you are going to call. I had called her house last evening to wish her well and let her know we were all thinking about her and Richie answered and said she had gone in yesterday already but gave me the above information. I just figured the phone number was the hospital and so when Lucille answered I was pretty surprised. She seemed in good spirits - she had to go in yesterday for prep and some tests prior to surgery. I will let you know if I hear anything else.

Hello Everyone!!!!

I finally made the time to try to figure this blog thing out. My mother keeps telling me to add new pictures and my friends keeping hounding me to get onto facebook. Do these people think I don't have anything else to frustrate my day with. My kids are telling me to get with it and is actually kind of fun once I figure it out. I like to go to the blog and read what everyone is up to. Thanks to my sister for posting pictures of the newest addition. Everyone looks and sounds like they are doing well. We are all adjusting well and miss you all!!!!

I talked to Joyce. Sounds like Lucille gave you all the details. Kathy, I gave her your cell # so she will keep you informed on how the surgery goes. Frank and I will be out in Denver next week (Jake, I'll be calling you with the details). The kids will let me know if you call here.

Patti

Davis, Welcome to the family.

News from Lucille and Mary

I am hoping I am getting this right- It seems like I have to re-learn every time I want to blog. I am posting however, because I got a call from aunt Lucille tonight and I knew I would not have time to call everyone.

First of all she left a message on my home phone that said "This is Lucille give me a call tonight or tomorrow whenever you have time." I had gone to Bismarck today with a client so thought it must not be an emergency - I will call her tomorrow. Then I realize I have a missed call on my cell phone from her and thought- I better call now. Lucille said she had a few pieces of information that we may want to know about

First Marleen(Kommes) Vick & Verna's daughter had had open heart surgery February 17th in Minneapolis. They had found a calcified lump in her heart. She is in re-hab in Minneapolis at the present time, but doing well. Hopes to be going home by this next week. Second- on February 26th Karen (Johnson) had a breast removed. They are very confident they got all the tumor and she does not have to have any radiation or chemo. Lucille said she had been doctoring for quite some time before they finally did the surgery. She said both Karen and Bob are doing well. Bob had been home for the surgery etc and has not been taking any long runs. She said at Christmas Karen was looking pretty bad - had lost quite a bit of weight etc, She did say she talked to Karen recently and she has gotten her appetite back ( for chocolate anyway and has gained 10 pounds) Lucille said she needed it.

Finally ( this is the Kommes in her) She has been having some stomach problems and went to her doctor in Madison for some test ( including a colonascopy(sp?)-which was her first) and they discovered several polyps. They removed quite a few and none were cancerous, however they did tell her she had a cluster of polyps on her intestines, when she asked why they didn't remove them - they said they were worried about doing damage to her intestine wall. So she is going into the hospital in Madison March 11th to have 6" of her intestine removed. ( Really this is exactly how the conversation went.) She seemed in positive spirit, although I could hear a crackling in her voice.

I asked how Corlyn was doing and she said he had said - he wanted to be the one taking her down to Madison (Richie is coming over to take her there and staying for the surgery) Joyce had asked if maybe the bus could bring Corlyn over , but Lucille said it would be too long of a day for him and she would be more worried about him than anything else. She will be in the hospital a week and Corlyns sister said she will go over every day and have lunch with him. Lucille said he is doing very well.

I also received a letter from Aunt Mary on Monday - had told Jake about it last night. Basically she was guilting me into writing a letter. She basically told me for lent she had decided she needed to write letters( I think she use to always clean her upstairs) and went on to say she had missed my "newsy" Christmas " letter but sure it had been "Lost in mail, or something. In her letter which mentioned none of the above she did say - Tom had gotten his voice back and needed to go to the Doctor again in 6 months. Not knowing what she was taking about I asked Lucille and she said Tom had had his corradid-(sp?) arteries fixed and after the surgery had no voice. The doctors wanted to go back in but he refused. Luckily his voice has returned - but Lucille said Mary said he now started smoking again.

Note: I really tried to correct all spelling & grammar errors- Patti but I could not even find some of these words in the dictionary & it is late, I am tired and I want to get this posted.

Love you all. Kathy
