Long time reader, first time blogger

I'm finally using this blog, unfortunately, I'm at work right now so I can't post any pictures, yet. Hope everybody is doing well. Since Lee's wedding our lives have been rather busy. Jerrett had to work 6 nights in a row, with 24 hours off before working 3 days. Today, Arron and him did a little fishing, with only one northern pike caught, maybe they will have better luck next time.

I celebrated the 4th this year by attending the annual "Party on the Prairie", which features the Johnny Holmes Band. It's right by our house, so every year we walk over, after having a few drinks. There they have a cash bar, where we mingle and see old acquaintances, jam to the music, and have an all around good time. On the 4th, Arron and I attended the Parade, which was long and boring, but it's a nice time to visit with family and friends that we sit by. That night we went to my brother's house to shoot off fireworks, watch area fireworks, then ate s'mores by the fire before calling it a night.

I also spent a few short days in Minneapolis this week to visit a friend and her two month old baby. We had a good time, leaving baby with dad to spend a day shopping. I had great luck finding clothes for myself, and that made it extra fun.

Now it's back to work for me, working four night shifts. It allows me to catch up on my reading, tough, huh?

Testing the blog out....

Hello everyone. It sure was great seeing all of you at Lee & Shantelle's wedding...what a great time. We made it back to Minneapolis safely and then caught our flights home. We spent the majority of last week camping and boating...great time had by all. I have some great pictures from the wedding but they are on our home computer so I will have to post some this weekend. I just wanted to make sure I could figure this blog thing out. :)

LOVE YOU ALL!

Back at Home

We got home yesterday, after a nice week at the lake. The weather was great!

I think this picture summarizes the good time we all had at Lee and Shantelle's wedding.Cassie & Nick, the kids said you made it here Friday and you must have gotten off to the airport OK. They said you had enjoyed your vacation.

Jake, I hope your family made it back to the airport without any problems.

It was good to see everyone.

Dutke Family News

My Mom is up at the cabin, but has been inquiring whether anyone has posted anything yet on the blog. I informed her that it has been only 1 day since everyone returned home. She returns from the cabin on Sunday and will be expecting posts. How about some of those wedding pictures??

Since she is gone with the camera that has the few wedding pictures we took, I'll just post this picture. I simply couldn't resist. (2007 Christmas card photo???)

And this was the result of my Mom's assistance, Rick and my Dad drinking on the job, and no other siblings to show them how to properly install the bench... Personally, I didn't think the height of the bench was a problem:)

(And yes that is my mom in her waders, in the water!)

After the bench was removed, this became the next problem... Perhaps the lesson is the 3 North Dakotans should leave any dock assembly chores for Joe and John.

The word from the cabin is that it is looking great. I'm heading up for the 4th of July celebration (Theme: favorite TV shows... isn't the theme supposed to be America, red white and blue, etc.??) and will return on Thursday with pictures.

It was great to see everyone this past weekend. Have a Happy 4th of July!

Genesis, Part II

This blog was the brainchild of Patti, who on June 24, 2007 sent me this e-mail:

I just had one of my great (?) ideas . . . . I want to set-up (or should I ask, "Would you set up?") a Morey family blog. I want everyone in the family to have access to it, to write whatever their current news is, post baby pictures, etc. . . . I think this would be a fun and easy way for everyone to keep in touch and up-to date. . . .

So, Moreys, what do you think? Will you make this blog a must-read site for your extended family (and, perhaps, your friends)? Only you can make it happen by participating (read this to learn how)!

Genesis, Part I

Here it is: the inaugural posting to the brand-new blog called "Morey Family News." Isn't this exciting?!

If you are a Morey who is willing to share with your fellow Moreys what's going in your life, you are invited to post your family news and photos at this site. To get instructions for doing so, please e-mail me, and I'll get you started. You'll be an expert in no time.

You are also invited to comment on any of the posts to this blog. Share your reactions, give your feedback, initiate discussions, etc., by clicking on the "comments" link beneath any post. Once you've typed your comment, type the "word verification" letters into the appropriate box [a feature that may seem silly to you but that prevents automated spammers from adding nonsense comments to this blog]. Then choose "other" as an identity, type in your name, and click "publish your comment."

Think of this as a shared diary for the Morey family to write about their lives for one another to read, or perhaps an Internet refrigerator door upon which to hang photos, notes, messages, and reminders for your aunts, uncles, siblings, cousins, and perhaps even relatives long-lost or unknown. It will be most useful if people actually (1) post to it and (2) comment on it rather than (3) simply read it in anonymity.

So what are you waiting for? Place your fingers on the keyboard and start typing!
